All the Details on Avril Lavigne’s Engagement Ring

Few knew that Avril Lavigne was dating Nickleback singer Chad Kroeger, so the engagement announcement surely took the world by surprise. People magazine has more details on the huge, 14-carat bauble Chad proposed with.

Word online has it that Chad popped the question whilst Avril was scrapbooking, by inserting a page with “WILL YOU MARRY ME?” in the scrapbook.

There was nothing spontaneous about the gesture, which is evidenced by the fact that he'd taken the time to look for the perfect diamond for the ring, and then got actively involved in designing it.

“Her new fiancé, Nickelback singer/guitarist Chad Kroeger, 37, chose a stunning sparkler for his Aug. 8 proposal,” People writes.

“We helped Chad custom create Avril’s dream ring: a platinum-set pear-shape diamond with half moons totaling 14 carats from XIVKARATS in Beverly Hills,” designer Caryn Alpert says for the celebrity publication.

“What a perfect pair/pear!” Alpert jokes.

Avril is showing off the new diamond (which is huge, as expected) on the cover of the latest issue of Hello Canada magazine. Supposedly, the print issue will offer a better look at it than what we get from the photo attached to this article.

“The bride-to-be, 27, 'is glowing,' a family source tells People. Adds a friend: 'Just looking at them, you can see how much he adores her',” the aforementioned media outlet goes on to note.

Avril and Chad started dating sometime in February, when they got together to work on some new music.

She was fresh out of a 2-year romance with Brody Jenner, which is why she kept thing platonic at first but, in time, she realized she had feelings for Chad.

“He makes me laugh every day. He takes care of me in every way and is extremely attentive,” Avril says for the Canadian publication.

“I knew I was falling for her. It was incredibly powerful and something I'll never forget,” Chad adds.

The two have not yet set a wedding date, sources close say. If they had, they're not saying yet.
