It is, in essence, an all-in-one desktop display for virtual desktop management

Under normal circumstances, I'd be tempted to describe the ViewSonic SD-Z245 as an all-in-one desktop PC, but that would be incorrect.

ViewSonic made it into a 23.6-inch all-in-one desktop display instead.

The difference? Even though the newcomer boasts an integrated Tera2321 CPU, it is still, in essence, a monitor instead of PC.

The chip is there only to handle the accelerated PCoIP virtualization technology from Teradici.

In layman terms, the monitor is there just so you can look at it and plug the peripherals. The actual PC tasks are carried out by a central mainframe, a server of sorts. This is the core of virtualization technology, so to speak.

Both 2D and 3D graphics are supported by the SD-Z245. Lag is guaranteed to not show up thanks to Gigabit Ethernet, even in dual-display configurations (via DVI-I port).

Q4 is when sales will start, for $549 / €549. A 22-inch model called SD-Z225 is already selling, for $499 / €499.
