Bryan Singer’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” the second installment in the rebooted franchise, opens wide today, May 23, but if you’re new to the Mutant universe, you might have some trouble keeping up with everything going on and the small (but very important) cameos by various Mutants.

That’s because, so far, we have had no less than 6 movies, some better than others, and many going in different directions from previous installments.

For a newcomer, the X-Men universe can be very confusing even though, honestly, after seeing “Days of Future Past” last night, I can promise you that this new installment goes out of its way to make even newbies feel welcome.

However, you’d still be missing out on all the Easter Eggs, winks on part of the writers and director. The video above, courtesy of Vulture magazine, explains the entire X-Men series in just 3 minutes.

With this runtime, it’s obvious that it can’t touch on specifics, but at least it offers viewers enough background information to understand why it’s so important to have Jane or Cyclops back, for instance.

So, before you get a ticket for “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” here’s a video to help you refresh your memory or even to get you into the thick of things, if you’re a newbie.
