Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, the new online shooter from PopCap Games and Electronic Arts, will use the same approach to DLC as the multiplayer mode from Mass Effect 3, as all new content will be distributed for free, in order to keep the player base from separating itself.

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare is set to deliver a new experience based on the PvZ franchise, turning the strategy recipe into a shooter one, putting players in control of plants or zombies on a big battlefield.

The game will receive DLC after launch, and PopCap's Producer Brian Lindley has confirmed to Polygon that all the extra content will be distributed for free to players.

This is the same approach as the one used by BioWare for Mass Effect 3's multiplayer, as the studio didn't want the user base to be divided depending on what DLC they purchased.

Current add-on plans for Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare will keep new content coming for several months, according to Lindley.
