An updated version of Twitter for Mac is now available with a hefty bag of changes, including a brand new look, returning popular functions, all new features like the ability to clone windows, and plenty more.

“Follow your interests: instant updates from your friends, industry experts, favorite celebrities, and what’s happening around the world. Get short bursts of timely information on the official Twitter for Mac app,” reads the description over at the Mac App Store.

Twitter for Mac 2.1 now boasts multi-window support, thanks to which you can move between conversations, profiles etc. more easily.

It brings back the native toolbar and breadcrumb navigation, and lets you "clone" (simply pop out) any window.

There’s also a new layout for message conversations, as fans of the app will surely observe.

All in all, it’s a major update, and one worth looking into immediately, if the older version was a hassle.

In related news, Twitter today started to roll out a new version of twitter.com web app for iPhone, and similarly ‘smart’ devices.

It provides what the folks at Twitter call "a high-quality and consistent experience on high-end touchscreen devices."

According to the software engineers handling the web-based service, smartphones and tablets like the iPad were their primary focus when working to enhance compatibility between Twitter and these products.

For example, the advanced Safari web browser which gets along perfect with HTML 5 caught their eye, making it a top priority for the Twitter web app.
