Microsoft’s free, centralized library of code samples available through CodePlex has been downloaded in excess of 1 million times in the past year alone, the company revealed this week. The 1 million downloads of the All-In-One Code Framework all happened in fiscal year 2011, namely between mid-2010 and the summer of 2011.

One of my favorite projects from Microsoft has grown tremendously in the past 12 months, with the number of downloads increasing tenfold compared to the previous year.

“All-In-One Code Framework reduces the efforts of developers in solving typical programming tasks. Sample codes are made available for download; reducing the time developers need to create commonly used codes. Every single sample code reduces the efforts of developers worldwide,” a member of the All-In-One Code Framework project revealed.

The brainchild of Jialiang Ge, support engineer 2 with Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) Community Support, the All-In-One Code Framework is one of the innovative projects celebrated as part of the software giant’s “Global Microsoft Next” initiative.

The All-In-One Code Framework was born from the need to supply developers with a comprehensive collection of free code samples for use in their projects.

“We want to share our gratitude for the strong supports from our customers and the developer communities such as MSDN, CodePlex, CSDN, and cnblogs. We want to thank IT media such as Softpedia, Microsoft News Center, MSDN news flash and social media, for helping us spread the word,” the All-In-One Code Framework project representative added.

“We also appreciate the seamless partnership with over 8 business groups in Microsoft such as Developer Support Division, PQO, MSDN Samples Gallery, MSDN Forum, Garage, Engineering Excellence, DPE, marketing team, etc. This would not have been possible without them.”

Developers that are currently leveraging the All-In-One Code Framework should expect the resources to evolve even more over the course of the next year.

“For Fiscal Year 12, we are preparing lots of new features, expansions, improvements and innovations around this project. We look forward to another outstanding year,” the company promised.
