Security software vendors unite, for universal solutions

Installing security measures on a server isn't as easy as it seems. You don't just buy the software install and configure it. You have to get the RIGHT software for your firm, otherwise everything is in vain. That wouldn't be a problem, but sometimes software developers don't deliver full solutions for corporations. That's when IT managers are forced to buy software from different vendors and this can be quite tricky, if the programs don't "get along" too good.

But Imperva comes with a new initiative and a solution to this problem: Imperva OpenSphere. Security software vendors will engage in a partnership to help clients build up a better security module.

As I've seen on eWeek, Shlomo Kramer, president, and CEO of Imperva has stated: "We see enterprises struggling with disparate data governance and protection solutions that operate independently or have a closed, proprietary design that forces the burden of interoperability onto the customer. This is clearly not an efficient or effective approach to keeping up with the changing landscape of data protection and governance."

As eWeek informs, this will allow enterprises to deploy Imperva's SecureSphere together with pre-integrated third-party products, content and information feeds delivery platforms as well as the best practices.

I think this is a great initiative and that more security software vendors should do this, since this is bound to make programs more flexible and it will also enable them to better suit the customer's needs. The first to have joined this alliance led by Imperva are Crossbeam Systems, Ounce Labs and SenSage. Not only is this going to be better for the clients, but it will also be better for the firms, since what they are doing is increase software compatibility.
