The armchair will let people explore winter wonderlands in an eco-friendly way

Winter wonderlands afficionados will probably jump at the chance to explore them in a comfy armchair that relies on tank-like treads to get about and which runs solely on electricity.

The odd-looking vehicle, if one may be bold enough to call it thus, is dubbed the Ziesel.

Apparently, this is German for “land squirrel,” though I for one can't see any similarities between the furry forest dweller and the all-electric armchair.

According to Gas2, the vehicle is currently being developed by the folks at Mattro Mobility Revolutions GmbH.

“The Ziesel is a pioneer for mobility by combining sustainable and environment-friendly technologies with pure outdoor fun. It is the only barrierfree sport-vehicle with electrical high-performance power for fun and freedom in nature,” its description reads.

Furthermore, “The Ziesel was developed for outdoor action and can be used all year round with impressive performance on almost all surfaces like: snow, sand, stone, mud, grass and more.”

The vehicle can only reach a top speed of 22 miles per hour (35.4 kilometers) but, seeing how there isn't anything standing in the way of the driver landing face first in a pile of snow, maybe this speed limit is not all that bad.

In case anyone was wondering, the vehicle is easily controlled via a joystick system that most people will have no issue getting the hang of in a few minutes.

The bad news is that the Ziesel has not yet hit the market, and information about when exactly this will happen is still lacking.
