Starting tomorrow, October 27, all Call of Duty games, including Modern Warfare 1, World at War, Modern Warfare 2, as well as Black Ops, will be on the receiving end of a Double XP weekend that allows owners of the titles to earn Prestige rank and get a token that can be redeemed when Modern Warfare 3 is out next month.
Activision is definitely putting up a fight against EA's Battlefield 3, which is just being released all over the world, so, in the first weekend of availability for the new title, it's now running a special double XP weekend for all its most recent Call of Duty games.
The reason isn't just to mess with Battlefield 3, however, as the upcoming Modern Warfare 3 will give players Prestige tokens on its first day availability if they entered prestige mode in previous games.
According to Infinity Ward's creative strategist, Robert Bowling, "Every time you prestige in MW3, you'll receive a prestige token. Use it to unlock rewards like double XP for a limited time, an extra custom class, or choose one piece of gear from your custom class to keep unlocked from rank 1 of future Prestiges."
As such, for every previous Call of Duty game you unlocked prestige mode in, you get a token that can be used right from the start of your Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 experience and get special rewards.
In order to help players that have yet to reach this goal, a special Double XP weekend is being ran for all recent games in the series, starting with Modern Warfare 1, and including World at War, Modern Warfare 2 or the most recent Black Ops.

What if you have prestiged like 15 times...........

Hello there, it seems that it doesn't matter how many times you prestiged as you'll only get one token per game (MW1, WaW, MW2, BO). So there's a maximum of four tokens. Otherwise it would really topple the balancing in multiplayer.
