RIM confirms consistent price cuts for its smartphones

It appears that Research In Motion decided to slash prices on the majority of BlackBerry smartphones available for purchase in India.

The folks at BGR got word from trusted sources that RIM has already operated consistent price cuts on the following smartphones: BlackBerry Curve 8520 (Rs 8,999), BlackBerry Curve 9360 (Rs 18,990), BlackBerry Curve 9380 (Rs 16,990) and BlackBerry Torch 9860 (Rs 21,990).

The new prices are available starting today and only affect BlackBerry smartphones launched in India. Although this is not a global price cut, it makes us wonder why RIM decided to put it in effect before announcing its quarterly results.

Research In Motion is expected to announce its financial results on Thursday, but analysts claim that the company will most certainly miss all its projected goals for the quarter. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
