All 'Psych'-ed Out!

Despite frequent comparisons to the obsessive-compulsive detective 'Monk', the new drama series registered audiences that are surely to make it one of the most viewed TV shows this year.

The story is a mixture of mystery story, with funny elements and the classical cases of mistaken identity and of the gullible police officer. It is about Shawn (James Roday) who gets arrested as a crime accessory and convinces the police that he is actually endowed with genuine psychic powers.

All his so-called 'visions' are nothing but a sham, based on his very acute perception and observation spirit, inherited from his father. But he manages to make the police officers believe him and contract him for all their underway investigations. In all his adventures, Shawn is assisted by his childhood friend, played by Dule Hill, with whom he opens his own agency, simply called 'Psych'.

Although the pilot episode was aired Friday on USA Network, there still are many viewers not satisfied with the outcome. Most of them believe that the plot is indeed very good (as uninspired and lacking originality as it does), but the production and acting make it less desirable to watch.

Then, there are others who are still huge fans of the Emmy nominated 'Monk' and who consider the similarities between the two programs a little too much. Nevertheless, they will have to live with this fact, as the figures have already spoken for the show!
