Allienware, Dell's new gaming division, has announced today the debut of an updated line of computer systems, for both desktop and portable PC users. The new lineup includes a higher-performance Area-51 M15x laptop, which has been designed to include Intel's latest Clarksfield mobile i7 processor in combination with some of the latest hardware components available today. In addition, the outfit also announced the introduction of its all-new Area-51 and Aread-51 ALX, two desktop computer systems designed with gaming at heart. To complete the lineup, Alienware also debuted the Aurora and Aurora ALX desktops.

“These newest additions to the Alienware lineup represent the culmination of months of hard work, bringing together two world-class teams to create a family of world-class products targeting PC gamers,” said Arthur Lewis, general manager of Dell's Gaming Group. “Our current offering of desktops, notebooks and peripheral products signals our commitment to providing the best PC gaming experience possible and to being the global industry leader for PC gaming products.”

Kicking off with the new portable gaming rig, the Area-51 M15x, Alienware has fitted this monster with the latest Core i7 920XM 2.0GHz processor, combined with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M 1GB graphics card and support for up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM, a 500GB hard drive or 256GB SSD. In addition, the rig is designed to provide a slot-loading Blu-ray drive, FireWire, Gigabit Ethernet, a trio of USB 2.0 ports, VGA and DisplayPort connectivity, ExpressCard slot and an 8-in-1 card reader. All within a system that weighs in at about nine pounds and is 1.92 inches thick.

With the Area-51 and Area-51 ALX desktops, users will be able to enjoy the performance of a liquid-cooled, factory-overclocked Core i7 CPU, with a number of choices for multi-GPU configurations from both ATI and NVIDIA. Up to six HDDs can be installed, paired with up to 12GB of 1333MHz DDR3 memory, two Blu-ray drives and dual Gigabit Ethernet ports. To top things off, the ALX version comes with an insanely fast Core i7 975 processor, clocked at 3.86GHz, two 1.8GB GeForce GTX 295 GPUs and a high-power PSU.

According to Alienware, the Aurora desktop is the most upgradable system in its offering, while the Aurora ALX is the most powerful MicroATX desktop the company has ever created. The latter comes with a liquid-cooling solution, a 3.6GHz Core i7 975 processor, ATI Radeon 1GB HD 5870 GPU, 12GB of DDR3, all for a high-end gaming experience.
