Alienware is a company that has managed to make a name for itself as one of the premium gaming brands on the market, providing consumers with a couple of high-quality products that can deliver an impressive performance. A couple of weeks back, Dell's subsidiary announced a new solution that was said to revolutionize the portable PC market. The M11x combined the format factor of the popular netbook segment with the performance of gaming PCs. On that note, it looks like the first reviews of the new ultraportable has made it online.

The fellows over at hardwareheaven managed to grab a sample of Alienware's new pride and joy, which they made good use of by putting it through its paces. The unit was featured with the Core 2 Duo SU7300 processor, coupled with the GeForce GT 335M graphics chip from NVIDIA. The system also featured 2 x 2GB Hynix DDR3-1066 memory, a Toshiba 500GB 7200RPM SATA hard drive, a Samsung 128GB SSD and Dell Wireless DW1520, WIDCOMM Bluetooth and a 11.6-inch display featuring a 1366 x 768 resolution.

After putting the system through its paces, our colleagues over at hardwareheaven concluded that Alienware's latest design was “without doubt one of the best laptops” they had tested. Gaming was impressive, as they were able to play titles such as Dirt 2, Modern Warfare 2 or Left 4 Dead 3 at resolutions of 1366 x 768, basically what the outfit intended when having announced the laptop. Battery life is also a plus, with the M11x, according to them, after seeing about 6 hours of runtime, with 4hours of HD video content.

Dell's take at the ultraportable market, with the Alienware-branded M11x, appears to provide on its promise, namely that of enabling gaming enthusiasts to play their favorite games on an ultraportable system, which also does a very good job at delivering a quality multimedia platform.
