Steam punks and tech-wise aliens have come together to improve the gaming experience. Not the off-world intervention you might expect it to be, Valve Software and Alienware decided that it would be a great idea to supply the high-end computers with build-in Steam support. The announcement was made Wednesday and it looks like a free game will also be supplied with every purchased system. The freebie is none other than the amazing Portal, the puzzle game from Valve that proved to be a unique and amazing experience.

The leading distributor of digital content will make its client available on the Are-51 and Aurora desktop rigs and on the M17x and M15x laptops. The senior manager of product planning for Dell's Gaming Group said that, "With its automatic game updates, easy friend finding and the ability to play your Steam purchased games on any PC, Valve has helped simplify PC Gaming to make it more enjoyable. It's for these reasons we selected Steam to compliment the Alienware experience."

Of course, the fact that it's the biggest and most successful service currently available has nothing to do with it. Currently, Steam has over 20 million user accounts and provides 950 games for online download.

Not to be left behind when it comes to praising its new business partner, Valve's Jason Holtman, the director of business development, said that, "Entertainment, specifically gaming, is a primary use of PCs in the home and on the road. Alienware is a household name among PC gamers who want the most out of their hardware. The combination of Alienware hardware and Steam equals a superior gaming experience."

And with the price tag that Alienware computers come with, the free Steam client and the 11,99€ game won't even be noticed near all those zeros. Still, if Portal is to become the new Solitaire, that this is definitely something to support.
