The NVIDIA Quadro FX 3600M GPU with 512MB RAM will be used on the 15.4-inch notebook series. The first mobile PC to feature the graphics processor is the Alienware Area-51 m15x. The GPU has been designed for heavy-duty video processing, and has the ability to dynamically allocate geometry, shading and pixel processing.

Alienware, leading manufacturer of high-performance desktop, notebook and entertainment systems, announced that the graphics performance of its Area-51 m15x notebook is getting enhanced with the addition of NVIDIA Quadro FX 3600M GPU. Although it is already gamers and entertainment enthusiasts' favorite machine, the graphics enhancements of the 15.4-inch notebook will make it suitable for on-the-go digital content professionals.

Alienware Area-51 m15x is a unique mobile PC, the first to be equipped with the NVIDIA Quadro FX 3600M graphics card, capable of addressing the needs of industrial designers and other creative professionals. The graphics capabilities of this highly portable platform are tending to become unrivaled. The Quadro FX 3600M offers support for Open GL 2.1, Shader Model 4.0, and DirectX 10. The combination between the graphics processor and the award-winning performance of the Area-51 m15x provides a complex, real-time, photorealistic environment for designers and engineers to work with applications like CAD, DCC and scientific programs.

"The creation of the incredibly life-like games we enjoy today begins with bringing together revolutionary technology and outstanding performance. Alienware has always designed and engineered top-tier, high-performance systems to deliver the best experience possible, whether for a gamer or a 3D designer," said Bryan de Zayas, Associate Director for Product Marketing at Alienware. "The addition of the NVIDIA Quadro FX 3600M GPU brings the capabilities of the Area-51 m15x to an all-new level and is just one more example of our commitment to develop unique and powerful systems that attract enthusiasts and creative professionals alike."

An NVIDIA Quadro FX 1600M card is also being offered on the Area-51 m9750. The company plans to make available the Quadro FX 3600M card on the Area-51 m17x as soon as possible, providing customers with a wide range of processional-class solutions.

"The Area-51 m15x is the ideal vehicle for the NVIDIA Quadro FX 3600M graphics processor," said Shawn Worsell, product manager, Professional Solutions, NVIDIA. "NVIDIA and Alienware share a common dedication to delivering industry-leading graphics to our professional customers."

The 3600M can be found on Dell's Precision M6300 and HP's 8710w notebooks, yet both of them are 17-inch machines. The Alienware Area-51 m17x will soon receive the NVIDIA flagship GPU as well. The addition of Quadro FX 3600M to m15x will rise the price of the notebook with $600. The company will start shipping the new configuration on August 5th.
