After launching a teaser site letting the whole world wait with anticipation for the official release of an upcoming 'All Powerful' laptop, Alienware has just announced its latest high-end M17x gaming laptop. Keeping its promise as regards an 'All Powerful' system, Alienware equipped the new M17x with two NVIDIA GeForce GTX280M graphics processing units, for a grand total of 2GB of graphics memory. All that and more will be available to gaming enthusiasts for the small starting price tag of US$1799, a somewhat reasonable deal considering the performance potential and the extras integrated in this laptop.

As PCWorld reports, the new M17x from Alienware has been featured with a 17-inch display and a single 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX260M GPU. However, for those really looking for the best gaming laptop on the market, Alienware will allow them to upgrade their systems to a dual 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX280M configuration. That will probably be enough to run any of today's gaming titles on a large, external display for an enhanced viewing experience.

Aside from the aforementioned, the laptop is also packed with Intel's Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz P8600 central processing unit, which can also be upgraded to a faster Core 2 Extreme quad-core CPU. Up to 8GB of DDR3 1333MHz memory can be installed on the system, while on the storage side, users will be able to choose from either a single 250GB 7200RPM hard drive, a massive 1TB 7200RPM drive or a fast 512GB of solid-state storage capacity, in Raid 1 and Raid 0. A slot-loading DVD-RW drive is available, but users can also upgrade to a dual-layer Blu-Ray disc.

Additional features include a 9-cell battery pack, 802.11n WiFi and NVIDIA's successful GeForce 9400M G1 GPU, featuring HybridPower technology, which allows you to reduce the power consumption of your system by switching to the integrated graphics solution. Pricing starts at just US$1799, but if you truly want to experience the power of the M17x, you might end up spending a lot more.

In addition to the announcement made for the laptop itself, Alienware also said that it would update everybody with details on its huge 42.8-inch curved monitor during next week's Electronic Entertainment Expo.
