When it comes to putting old things that people no longer want or need to better use, it would appear that the only limits one should worry about are those of their own imagination.

The plush creature pictured above is the creation of Jennifer Strunge of Baltimore, Maryland, and, believe it or not, it is made of recycled fabrics that the artist chanced to stumble upon while exploring thrift stores. Tree Hugger tells us that Jennifer Strunge likes to refer to the odd, alien-like creatures that she makes using recycled fabrics as Cotton Monsters.

Truth be told, this artist's creations are anything but scary, but, given their peculiar anatomy, I suppose it is OK to call them monsters. Cute, totally huggable ones, I would dare add.

“Aiming to give new life to secondhand sweatshirts, velour track suits and polo shirts of the world, most of my creations are constructed using clean thrifted clothing as well as sheets and fabric remnants,” Jennifer Strunge explains.

“Each is handmade one at a time, on my Bernina sewing machine, stuffed with brand new super-soft polyester fiberfill and finished with hand-stitching, all in my tiny attic home studio,” she further details.

If you feel like getting one such Cotton Monster for yourself, head over to Etsy and pick and choose from a surprisingly wide variety of odd plush creatures that are looking for a loving home.
