The game's length depends on how stealthy players are

Alien Isolation, the new game from Creative Assembly and Sega, will last around 15 hours, although it depends on how stealthy the players are and how many encounters they have with the menacing Xenomorph.

Games based on the Alien movie franchise have been hit and miss in recent years, as while some delivered some fun experiences, like Alien vs. Predator 2, others have disappointed severely, like Aliens: Colonial Marines.

With Alien Isolation, developer Creative Assembly wants to usher in a new stage for the franchise and deliver an experience that's more faithful to the source material. As such, the game is a first-person action survival one that puts players in the shoes of Amanda Ripley, daughter of Alien movie protagonist Ellen Ripley.

According to the developer, players will spend quite a bit of time with Amanda, as the game delivers around 15 hours of content, depending on the play style.

"The game's actually about 15 hours long because we've got so much to do with the narrative and all the different mechanics of the alien," the studio told AngryJoe, via CVG.

What's more, the studio emphasizes that the world of the game isn't a strictly linear one, as players can go back to past areas they’ve already explored and open up new paths while scoring different hidden goodies.

"On top of that we have the other threats about the station, we have a big long story that folds out. Also it's a bit like a Metroidvania game where you have a linear story you go through but you can also go back and explore areas you've been to. You can go back to areas and find new things, explore and open up new areas. There's a lot to do in the world."

Of course, depending on how stealthy players are, they can finish the game earlier, as they won't draw the attention of the alien all that much.

"The difficult thing is nailing a time because people can play for absolutely ages without even seeing the alien because they're being really careful and really stealthy, they've done nothing to call him down or there have been no explosions that he has come to investigate. Those people can get through it fairly quickly."

As such, depending on how much time you spend with the deadly Xenomorph, the Isolation experience gets bigger and bigger.

Alien Isolation is set to debut this fall for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
