Developer The Creative Assembly released a brand new CGI trailer for the upcoming first-person survival horror stealth video game Alien: Isolation.

The trailer features an encounter between Amanda Ripley and a Xenomorph, playing out pretty much like anyone would expect, with the heroine barely making her escape before coming to realize that the creature that was hunting her is hovering right above her head.

The video was released at Gamescom, the video game industry trade show taking place in Cologne, Germany, and it serves as a showcase of the environments that players will venture through during their upcoming adventures, highly reminiscent of the origins of the horror franchise.

The short film offers gamers a look at some of the eerie innards of the space station, showing various tools cluttering a table while Amanda is crafting the vital motion tracker and featuring a lot of dripping water and swinging chains, while also laden with the heavy atmosphere and nerve-wracking tension that Alien: Isolation promises to deliver.

The makers of the video game set out to capture the fear and tension in Ridley Scott's classic film from 1979, instead of going for the played-out route (and sometimes even disastrous, as in the case of Aliens: Colonial Marines) of an action-packed shooter.

Alien: Isolation is coming out on October 7, 2014, headed to the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC platforms.
