A new song from R&B artist Alicia Keys has made its debut on the same day that Martin Luther King's birthday is being celebrated. The new track was first released on the singer's official website, AKVault, and it's called “Power.”

The song is very upbeat, though it has a '70s disco sound to it thanks to an electric guitar in the background and the overall drumline. It does have something reminiscent of those troubled times when Luther King was still alive.

Keys' powerful voice can be heard blasting some impressive notes as she sings about self empowerment.

Speaking about her new project, Alicia Keys said on Twitter: “This is a song about POWER that I wrote back in 2007 that I have never shared w/my fam until now.” You can tell she's passionate about this project that will likely get a video in the near future.

Meanwhile, Alicia is already busy in the studio, working on her next single. All evidence points to a collaboration with Pharell Williams and husband Swizz Beatz, who posted a picture of the two in the studio together.
