14 DAY TRIAL // Following a couple of weeks of intense media speculation as to whether she was with child or not, based on photos of her with what looked like a baby bump, confirmation finally comes: singer Alicia Keys is expecting her first child. Not only that, but she’s also engaged and will marry produce Swizz Beatz later this year, People magazine can confirm.
Alicia and Beatz have been dating quietly for quite some time now, but they have never gone public with their romance since his divorce was finalized only last month. Earlier this week, though, the two began to make appearances in public as a couple, as hype about a baby bump on the Grammy-winning singer began to pick up. Now at a point in her pregnancy where no loose garment can hide the bump, a rep for Alicia confirms the happy news.
“A wedding and a baby are on the way for Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz. The musicians ‘are expecting a baby and are engaged to be married in a private ceremony later this year,’ reps for the couple confirm to People. The announcement comes after the two, together since fall 2008, attended Thursday night’s Black Ball in London, which benefits Keys’ Keep a Child Alive charity. ‘They’re very happy,’ says a friend of the couple,” People writes.
“Rapper Swizz Beatz (real name: Kasseem Dean), 31, has produced music for Keys, 29, and worked with artists including Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez and Gwen Stefani. It will be the first marriage for Grammy-winner Keys – and their first child together. Swizz Beatz is father to Kasseem Jr., 3, and son Prince Nasir, 9, both from previous relationships,” the mag further reports.
Seeing how the two conducted their romance so far, meaning by choosing to live it outside of the glare of cameras, chances are the wedding of the two stars will be an equally low-key, though no doubt fabulous, event.
