Not too long ago, Universal Pictures announced that it was bringing a beloved franchise back to life. It was the classic monster movies known as “The Mummy.” Today, we find out that the man responsible for the new production is going to be Alex Kurtzman.

Deadline reports that Kurtzman is already planning how to bring back this timeless classic into the new century.

Plans for a reboot have been in the works for quite some time. After the latest trilogy starring Brendan Frasier and Rachel Weisz proved such a hit at the box office, the rebooted version was bumped from one director to another, until it fell in the lap of Kurtzman.

There are few details on the direction Kurtzman intends to take on the rebooted version, but there is talk that “The Mummy” won't be the only classic horror film to be brought back to life. We're looking at a massive effort to clean up on classic titles such as “Frankenstein,” “Dracula,” “The Invisible Man” and even “The Creature from the Black Lagoon.”

As far as we know, “The Mummy” reboot is going to be an action-adventure film with some horror elements. It's going to take place in modern times and it's also going to feature new characters, meaning that Brendan Frasier is not going to make a comeback.
