Although it’s not long that rumor surfaced that all that Victoria’s Secret Angel Alessandra Ambrosio had to do to drop the pregnancy weight was just to be herself, as she had been blessed with incredible genes, the model herself tells People it’s not quite so. Yes, losing weight is easy for her, but she also has to focus on staying healthy and in the best shape possible, for which reason she makes sure she works out a lot.

Losing weight and being fit for the catwalk are two different things, Ambrosio explains for the aforementioned publication. After giving birth to her baby girl last year, the model had little problems with shifting a few extra pounds, but now that she’s preparing for the upcoming annual Victoria’s Secret show, when the new collection premieres, she has to work out – a lot – while also paying a lot of attention to her diet.

“Last year, because I had a baby and I had to lose pounds, I did a lot of cardio. This year is all about weights, squats and lunges.” Ambrosio tells People of her efforts of always staying in top shape. “After I gave birth, my diet was a very healthy diet, like no sugar, no bread. But now, I am just eating whatever. I’m working out to prepare for the show because it’s our biggest show of the year. I’m trying to work out four days a week.” she further explains.

It’s a known fact that Victoria’s Secret models, unlike high fashion models, put in a lot of sessions at the gym to look as stunning as they do. For starters, they are curvier than runaway girls, and they always approach weight loss from a healthy perspective, unlike, unfortunately, many other models who need to drop a few pounds and they have to do it quickly. Ambrosio is no exception, regardless of what rumors said at the beginning of the year.
