Now, this is indeed breakthrough! Alesis, world-class name in audio gear, made a daring step and took mixing and recording beyond the known border of portability. What could you say if you could record your mix directly onto your beloved iPod so you'd be on the go in an instant? Neat, isn't it?

Alesis showcases the iMultiMix 8 USB: a product so innovative that I guess it will become an instant bestseller. Brave carrier of the MultiMix series (USB, FireWire or S/PDIF), the iMultiMix 8 USB simply brings the iPod to it rather than being drawn to the portable device.

Shortly, the new Alesis mixer is an 8-channel tabletop mixing console with 4 microphone preamped and 4 stereo jack inputs, loaded with the (already classical) 100 studio grade, 28-bit Fx, phantom power and three band EQ per channel strip featuring hi/lo shelving and band pass/reject for mid frequencies.

Even more, the new iMultiMix 8 USB sports a built-in output limiter which will prevent your recordings from being distorted and despite its small size, it also has aux send and return for further expanding your creative possibilities. It will record your audio mixes in WAV format, 16-bit @ 44.1 or 48 kHz into your computer via the USB connector.

Saving your mix to the iPod is as easy as playing a backing track for solo performance: the Alesis iMultiMix 8 USB simply makes the iPod an integrated element in your musical development! Sporting very intuitive command buttons in the rightmost part of the console, the iMultiMix 8 USB in conjunction with the iPod makes an almost perfect live music - multimedia station extremely portable, easy to use and last but not least, with an extremely sexy and appealing look.

The Alesis iMultiMix 8 USB is due to hit the markets in the third quarter of the year and I am sure there will be much ado about this awesomely piece of tech. Still, pricing isn't known but stay tuned!
