Security feats are an increased concern of device manufacturers out there and just yesterday, I told you about Fujitstu preparing to implement palm-vein sensor authentication technology into its first batch of tablets.

Alcatel OneTouch is trying to offer an alternate way of unlocking your tablet. At MWC 2014, Alcatel is planning to show off a tablet module that features iris recognition technology.

The slate has been built in partnership with Iritech and features a camera module and an IR LED system capable of scanning eyeballs and interpret the information accordingly thanks to Iritech’s software.

Alcatel says iris scanning is a quick and safe way of locking and encrypting sensitive information on your tablet and might be used as a security measure when users are performing financial operations.

This kind of advanced security feats might not be something that the regular consumer needs, but for business users working with sensitive data, such a feature might prove to be crucial.

Alcatel will be showing a prototype at MWC 2014, so it might be a while before we see iris scanning tablets in retail.
