Owners of Alcatel OneTouch Idol X+ smartphones out there now have a new reason to rejoice, as the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system is heading their way right now.

The mobile phone maker has already confirmed plans to make the update available for these devices, and also revealed that it would start pushing it out today, August 15.

“Good News for all Alcatel OneTouch Idol X+ customers - Android Kitkat 4.4 upgrade is available from this 15th August for existing jellybean customers,” the handset vendor announced on its Facebook account.

The new software release will become available for download as an over-the-air update, but no further details on it have been provided as of now.

However, since OneTouch Idol X+ is running under Jelly Bean at the moment, the update will provide it with a series of user interface changes, such as white icons in the notifications bar, various lock screen enhancements, and a series of security improvements.

Alcatel has yet to offer specific details on the markets that will receive the update first, and on how long it will take for Android 4.4 KitKat to reach all of the OneTouch Idol X+ devices out there, so keep an eye on this space for additional info on the matter.
