Alcatel is a company mostly known for its low-cost smartphone products, but the handset maker has a few tablet devices out on the market too.

Not so long ago, word of the bizarre Pixi 8 slate, which might as well be the first tablet to run a tri-core processor, surfaced online. Now, it appears that Alcatel has another device in the pipeline, one that arrives with a pretty impressive screen.

The new D802X tablet has recently received its Wi-Fi certification, but it will most likely be called OneTouch Hero 8, reports Tablet-News.

The device boasts an 8-inch display with 2K resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels) and draws power from a MediaTek MT6595 processor clocked at 1.9GHz, fitted with 3GB of RAM and backed up by 16GB of internal storage.

Another important aspect that needs to be mentioned here is that the slate will run Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box, so you won’t have to wait for updates once you get your hands on it.

The specifications onboard the OneTouch Hero 8 are quite “heroic,” and the 2K display is something you’d expect to see onboard of the upcoming Nexus 8.

But low-cost manufacturers are stepping up in an attempt to steal customers away from the competition.

It will be interesting to see for how much the Hero 8 will sell.
