There’s a fierce battle to the largest mobile phone market in the world, China. Lenovo, Huawei, ZTE, Alcatel, just to name some of the handset makers that are trying to boost their sales in the Mainland, have been launching top-notch Android smartphones to lure customers.

Aside from high-end features, these devices have been priced incredibly low in order to make them more appealing to the masses. This is one of the main reasons that other brands such as HTC, LG, Nokia and Samsung are trying to make their products attractive through various means.

Today, Alcatel released an interesting Android phone in China, which was previously known as Alcatel OT-986. However, the company launched the smartphone as Alcatel TCL S900, so customers should look up for this name when searching for the devices.

More importantly, Alcatel TCL S900 is available for purchase for only 1,999 yuan (315 USD or 250 EUR) outright. The TCL S900 is bang for the buck given the fact that it comes packed with lots of goodies.

Firstly, the smartphone is powered by Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system and packs 1.5 GHz dual-core TI OMAP processor, which is complemented by 1GB of RAM.

Another strong point of the Alcatel TCL S900 is the amazing 4.5-inch HD (720 x 1280 pixels) IPS capacitive touchscreen display.

There’s also a 5-megapixel rear photo snapper with autofocus and LED flash, as well as a secondary 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls.

On the inside, the device embeds only 8GB of internal memory, which hopefully can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card, though this has yet to be confirmed.

The smartphone also features HSPA and Wi-Fi support. Rumor has it that the phone will be rolled out globally in the following weeks, but under a different name, Alcatel OT-986.
