French-based company Alcatel is well-known for its budget-friendly mobile phones, which is one of the reasons the handset maker continues to bet everything on affordable devices.

Just like last year when Alcatel announced several Android-powered smartphones, mostly based on the old Froyo platform, the company plans to launch at least one Android device at this year’s Mobile World Congress, in Barcelona.

The folks at Electricpig were able to learn that a new smartphone dubbed Alcatel OT-915 would be officially unveiled at the end of the month. Initially, the device will be launched in the UK, as an alternative to the BlackBerry smartphones.

The phone comes with a decent 2.8-inch capacitive touchscreen display and a full QWERTY keyboard. It runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread and will probably be priced under £100 (157 USD or 120 EUR) outright.
