Alcatel, the exclusive mobile partner for Marvel’s Iron Man 3 movie, has just announced the immediate availability of two new smartphones in India, the One Touch Idol and One Touch Idol Ultra.

The cheaper of the two, Alcatel One Touch Idol can be purchased for Rs 15,800 outright, which is about $290 or €220. The One Touch Idol Ultra is a bit more expensive, as customers can purchase it for Rs 21,000 ($385/€295).

Both smartphones will be available from Indian carrier IDEA along with a promotional 3G offer which includes 1GB of 3G data and 3 months of Idea TV with recharge of Rs 261 on prepaid, and Rs 259 for the same offer on postpaid.

According to Alcatel, the One Touch Idol Ultra is one of the slimmest smartphones in its category at only 6.45mm, while the One Touch Idol is one of the lightest at 110g (battery included). It is also worth mentioning that latter will be featured in Marvel’s upcoming Iron Man 3 movie.

Specs-wise, both handsets ship with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box and pack dual-core processor.

However, the One Touch Idol is equipped with a 1GHz dual-core CPU, while the One Touch Idol Ultra packs a slightly more powerful 1.2GHz dual-core processor.

Alcatel One Touch Idol sports a 4.7-inch IPS LCD qHD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 540 x 960 pixels resolution, while the One Touch Idol Ultra features a 4.7-inch 720p display.

On the inside, the One Touch Idol features 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory, while the One Touch Idol Ultra comes with 16GB of storage and 1GB of RAM.

Keep in mind that the former also has microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB), while the latter lacks such a feature.

“India is a key strategic market for ALCATEL ONE TOUCH, poised towards high growth trajectory. In line with ALCATEL philosophy of enhancing the mobile entertainment experience and offering pioneering technology firsts to the consumer, today we are launching the slimmest and lightest smartphones in India,” said Mr. Albert Wong, head of APAC, Alcatel One Touch.
