Today, Alcatel launched at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas a new device in the popular OneTouch series, namely the Idol X+.

The mobile phone will arrive on shelves with an octa-core processor inside, being capable to provide increased performance capabilities in an appealing design.

The smartphone also features a 5-inch full HD touchscreen display that can deliver a 441ppi pixel density, while packing a slim body, at only 7.9 millimeters thin.

According to Alcatel, the new mobile phone was designed with content in mind, and it is capable of offering vibrant colors when it comes to pictures and video.

“It is finely-tuned to unleash the full power of the octa-core processor for smooth web browsing, immersive gameplay and compelling 3D graphics but is also frugal when it comes to power consumption,” the company explains.

The processor inside this smartphone was built with increased battery efficiency, being able to decrease power use by up to 18 percent when compared to quad-core processors even when decoding full HD videos.

Moreover, the smartphone can deliver fast Internet browsing capabilities, as it can allocate a different CPU core for each opened page.

The smartphone features a 2.4 mm edge-to-edge design, while packing a 13.1-megapixel rear camera capable of recording videos in full HD resolution. A 2MP front camera was also included, to enable users to make video calls while on the go.

The specs list of the new device also includes Hi-Fi sound, HD video, and a 2500mAh battery, along with the usual set of connectivity capabilities and sensors.

“The Idol range has gained a reputation for offering the best balance of features, performance and design,” said Dan Dery, chief marketing officer for Alcatel OneTouch. “The Idol X+ continues this tradition and is set to surprise and delight with its image capture and display credentials.”

As PhoneArena notes, TCL, the company that owns the Alcatel brand, brought the Idol X+ to China last month, with a price tag of around $330 (€243) attached to it. The phone will land in Europe in February, but no info on its cost outside China has been provided as of now.
