A slider phone with many multimedia features

Alcatel has been known for making many kinds of mobile phones, but it has never been considered one of the leading manufacturers of music phones. When considering buying a music phone, customers usually prefer brands like Sony Ericsson or Nokia who are known to make a wide variety of such phones, including many nice handsets.

And even though they have been releasing a couple of such phones lately, that didn't really change anything because people don't really associate Alcatel with music phones.

Recently, the Alcatel OT-C820a was discovered on the FCC website, and frankly, it's not a bad phone. It comes with a slider phone factor and allows the user to access most of the main features such as taking snapshots or answering calls when the phone is closed.

The music-centric buttons above the 5-way directional key provide an easy and convenient way to control the integrated media player. Aside from that, the OT-C820a comes with a 2 inch TFT color display, a built-in camera with video recording capabilities, Bluetooth 2.0 for connectivity with A2DP profile, wap browser and flight mode.

Because it's a music phone, a MicroSD card slot for memory expansion is also provided. The tri-band mobile phone also supports lyrics display, equalizers and full screen video playback.

Comparing it to the previously released OT-E801 that had nothing to offer except for an MP3 player and memory card slot, the OT-C820a can actually be considered an improvement and does bring some pretty interesting music related features.

Since it looks like this phone met the FCC, it probably won't be long until more details are revealed. Until then, availability and price remain unknown.
