The font, still in the works, is based on hundreds of handwritten letters inked by Albert Einstein himself

Not to burst anyone's bubble, but the fact of the matter is that, sadly, we can't all be physics geniuses. Thanks to a new font that is now in the works, however, we can at least hope to write like one.

This font that promises to make us seem smarter, a sample of which is available below, is based on the handwriting of none other than Albert Einstein, renowned theoretical physicist and the creator of the general theory of relativity.

Introducing the Albert Einstein font

The folks behind this project explain that, to create their so-called Albert Einstein font, they read and analyzed the calligraphy of hundreds of letters inked by the theoretical physicist all throughout his life.

To get the information needed to create the font, typographer Harald Geisler spent about six months tracing the physicist's handwriting with a digital pen.

In order to create a virtual model of the physicist's manner of writing, Harald Geisler and collaborators have so far created a total of 432 glyphs and plan to go on adding all the markings and letters needed for international communication.

Since a person's handwriting is not always the same, the Albert Einstein font is designed to include letters that look different depending on their position in a word or another. This should make it all the more fun to use.

The font's creators promise that the software will be compatible with the majority of the digital devices currently available on the market. Otherwise put, regular folks will have no trouble turning themselves into geniuses.

“There’s something very pleasing about representing the universe in the same style as someone who was himself so effective at it,” said Stanford University physics researcher Phil Marshall.

The font should be released later this year

Supposing that their Kickstarter campaign will land the Albert Einstein font's creators the $15,000 (€13,400) they need to move forward with this project, the software could be launched later this year, towards the beginning of December.

Should they succeed, the Albert Einstein font will officially be launched in the same year that the physicist's general theory of relativity celebrates its 100th anniversary.
