Alba DVDP721PNK DVD Player VS. Nakamichi's Lumos

I’ll give you two gadgets – one for the fashion addicts, and the other for the high tech fans – the Alba DVDP721PNK portable DVD player and the Lumos.

The first one is just pink and nothing more. I think it is a pink fever, as also the famous DS Lite has gone crazy-‘noble pink’ lately and I’m expecting the sales report to see who is buying this so cherry gadget. But let’s return to our latest DVD player which measures 4.65cm x 17.5cm x 20.85cm, can be powered by using an adaptor or a rechargeable battery and sports a 7" TFT LCD display. Like I said… nothing more.

The formats supported are the old widely used ones such as DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD, CD-R, CD-RW and of course CD. Not even the price is low… £89.99 (more than $150).

Nakamichi’s Lumos, in change, is one of a kind and it comes directly from Asia. It is lightweight - only 480 grams (without the battery) and measures only 203 x 155 x 27 mm and, in spite of its Lilliputian dimensions. It is also able to support most of the currently acclaimed formats such as DVD, VCD, SVCD, CD, MP3, DVD-R/RW, CDR/RW, JPEG, picture CD or CD+G, and it can be used in both NTSC and PAL standards.

The display is also a 7” TFT-LCD widescreen but it sports an enhanced resolution of up to 1440 x 234 pixels. Moreover, Nakamichi DVD portable player comes with a built-in SD card reader which will enable you to share photos or videos made with any SD-compatible digital camera.
