Remedy Entertainment has officially confirmed that it will be bringing its Alan Wake title to the PC platform in early 2012, after the announcement was teased for quite some time and even leaked yesterday.

Alan Wake originally started out as a multiplatform release, but the publishing deal with Microsoft made it possible only on the Xbox 360 and PC. Eventually, the PC edition was dropped altogether, and Alan Wake finally made it onto the Xbox 360 back in 2010.

Now, after quite a lot of debate, Remedy, which previously worked on the critically acclaimed Max Payne series, has finally confirmed that Alan Wake will be shining his flashlight onto the PC platform in early 2012.

What’s more, the game will also include the bonus downloadable content that was released for the console edition, in the form of The Signal and The Writer.

Early 2012 is also the release window of the downloadable sequel of the original game on the Xbox 360, called Alan Wake’s American Nightmare, which was revealed over the weekend at the 2011 Video Game Awards.

In case you’re not familiar with the plot of the game, check out Remedy’s description below.

“Alan Wake tells the story of a best-selling writer suffering from writer’s block. He goes on vacation to the small town of Bright Falls with his wife, Alice, to gain back his creative flow. Shortly upon arrival, Wake finds himself trapped in a nightmare when his wife mysteriously goes missing. He keeps finding pages of a manuscript he apparently wrote, but can’t remember writing. The manuscript is coming true. An involving psychological action thriller, Alan Wake raises the bar in storytelling and creating a suspenseful cinematic experience.”

Expect more details about Alan Wake’s PC edition in the near future, including possible system requirements or what enhanced features it will have on the platform.
