Xbox 360 focus announced

It seems that Alan Wake might not make it to the PC after all. Initial rumors appeared last week when the development team posted on the official forums about how efforts were being concentrated in the Xbox 360 version. Now prospects for PC gamers became even grimmer as one of the main people behind the game confirmed a console primacy.

Sam Lake, who is the lead writer on Alan Wake, told Edge Online “Yes, that's correct. We are fully concentrated on the Xbox 360 version. Other than that the plans are up in the air and open. Once we get this version done we'll see,” adding that “As I said, the plans are open, and once we're done with the 360 version we'll evaluate the situation and see what makes sense.” So, if a PC version arrives, it could be six months or more after the initial release.

Alan Wake is set to engage the player on multiple levels. It tells the story of a writer who retreats to a seemingly peaceful small town in order to finish a novel only to see that his writing seems to be creeping into reality while he must content with the fact that his wife is missing.

The game will feature both complex character interaction as fantasy becomes reality all around the player character and also action moments which, judging by the demo shown at the E3 trade this year, are heavily focused on light as the main weapon that can hurt all the creatures threatening Alan Wake.

The title is set to arrive for the Xbox 360 in the spring of 2010 after more than five years in development. Remedy is best known for creating the first two videogames in the Max Payne series, which is now getting a third iteration courtesy of Take Two and Rockstar.
