Everyone knows that the smartphone market is constantly on the rise, and today's mobile devices come with quite a few impressive features that a couple of years ago were found on your home computers.

In addition to that, thanks to the most recent imaging sensor technology, the latest smartphones offer very good image quality that sometimes surpasses compact camera performances.

To address an ever growing market, Alamy, one of the largest online image collections for photo buyers, announced the release of a new iOS app called Stockimo that “turns smartphone photos into cash.”

The app communicates directly with Alamy's distribution network, giving you the possibility to earn high commission sales. Moreover, all users who were already contributing to Alamy will receive a 50% commission for all Stockimo image sales, while new users will only receive 40% if they sign up before April 30.

The Stockimo contract is a bit different from the usual Alamy contributor contract, but your images will be treated the same as camera shots when it comes to pricing. By signing this contract, your uploaded images will immediately be available across the entire Alamy sales network.

In addition to that, you can't set restriction on images and the license type and sales model will be chosen automatically between RF (Royalty Free) and RM (Rights Managed), depending on the information you input along with your uploads.

Stockimo photos don't go through the usual Alamy QC and are rated out of 4 based on aesthetics. Future updates will introduce a filter for Stockimo images but, until then, in order to find images shot with an iPhone, you will have to search “Stockimo” under contributor name using the advanced search tool.

Stockimo requires iOS 6.0 or later, and is now available for download from the App Store free of charge.
