Evidence of terrorist activity in United Kingdom was recently discovered by the country's authorities, the attackers planning to start a powerful attack to affect the economy and the online services hosted in the country. It seems like the terrorists were planning to infiltrate a high-security Internet hub located in London to find and steal all the information it stores. The hub contains a huge amount of information about the online services running in London such as stock exchange and other Internet businesses.

"London's Metropolitan Police Service was not immediately available to comment on the newspaper report and failed to answer to recorded messages left with its media department on Sunday. Dame Eliza Manningham-Buller, director of the MI5, Britain's domestic spy service, has said the threat of terrorism in the U.K. is very real and includes the intent to kill people and damage the country's economy. Last year, she said that 1,600 people were suspected of involvement in terrorist plots against British targets," Fox News reported.

Because the terrorists were planning to attack the online services running the UK, it is extremely important that the police managed to discover and interrupt their activities. Imagine that a successful attack would affect numerous businesses in the country including banks, medical centers and many other activities based on the Internet services.

This is not the first time when the terrorists are involved into online activities. Take the example of Google Earth and Google Maps, two services that were used by the terrorists to organize attacks against the UK troops located in Basra. Although their attempts were also banned just in time, Google tried to avoid future attacks and replaced certain images with older ones captured before the departure of the army in the territory.
