Computer users are usually going for the best they can afford when it comes to central processing units, random access memories and graphics cards, without thinking about the power supply units that sit in the back of their computer case and must supply all the required energy for the system to run safely. As the power consumption of hardware components like the latest generation graphics cards climbs to new levels, power supply units manufacturing companies are trying to adapt and keep pace with the growing demand for more and more power.

One of the companies that come with a rich offering of high efficiency, high power supply units is Akasa that has just announced the launch of its latest, and biggest by the way, PSU that can deliver 1000W of power. The new PSU is called PSUPowerMax 1000W and it is specially designed for use in computers that are centered around a multi-core processing unit as well as those more and more frequent machines that are sporting multiple high end graphic cards.

The new Akasa PowerMax power supply unit comes equipped with two 12V rails that can sustain an amperage of 35A each and so it comes with a massive advantage over the older designs that use up to six 12V rails. The power supply units also includes a new 8-pin PCI Express connector that is usually used for delivering additional power to high end graphics cards and it is compliant with the second iteration of the PCI Express standard.

In order to be compatible even with the tallest high tower computer casings and be able to reach even the most remote components, the new Akasa PSU comes with extended 760mm long main cables and thanks to the fixed design of the cables no power loss occurs.

For the multiple graphics card setups that are becoming very popular, the new Akasa PowerMax unit comes with quad PCI Express connectors and thanks to the advanced protection system implemented, the power supply unit is protecting the host computer system against over voltage surges, while the PSU itself contains a protective circuit against temperature damage.

As the current computer industry trend is to provide users with lots of processing power and as little as possible noise, the power supply unit PowerMax 1000W from Akasa comes with a smart fan based on a dual ball bearing structure that can operate at different intensities between 600 and 1800rpm according to the temperature and workload. In order to further enhance the cooling of the unit a honeycomb structural design is used which increases the airflow while keeping things quiet.
