The developers at American McGee and Spicy Horse are launching a Kickstarter based funding effort for their title Akaneiro: Demon Hunters, designed to show the community what the game has to offer and secure the resources to increase quality.

Akaneiro: Demon Hunters can be played at the moment and once the game launches the entire demon hunting experience will be free-to-play, with a number of maps rotated in and out.

Gamers can enjoy those without paying and they can then use either in-game karma or real world money in order to get access to more content via the Akaneiro store.

The official description reads: “Combat is fast and unrelenting, but you can sway the tide with careful selection of abilities and equipment. A multitude of character building paths are available, though we've avoided being overly prescriptive, ensuring you can find the best balance of abilities and equipment for your personal play style.”

The developers promise freedom both when it comes to character progression and to the sections of the game world that a player can explore on launch.

Akaneiro: Demon Hunters will use the action role playing game template, with a template the Spicy Horse has created from scratch in order to appeal to as large an audience as possible.

The money that Spicy Horse will get from the Kickstarter effort will allow the team to add cooperative play to the game, allowing gamers to work together to take out tough enemy crowds and bosses.

It will also be used to improve the overall community support for the game and to develop an entirely new system to craft new items from resources dropped by the enemy forces.

Akaneiro: Demon Hunters will be launched on Windows, Mac OS X and tablets running either Android or iOS .

An open beta for the game is planned for later during January.
