As it turns out, there are some airlines in this world that care about their passengers' safety and wellbeing much more than they should or law enforcement officers would like them to. Australia's Jetstar appears to be one such airline.

Thus, word has it that, this past Sunday, a crew member aboard a Jetstar Airways flight from the Gold Coast to Sydney told passengers that they would do well to head to the toilet and dispose of whatever illegal substances they might be carrying.

By the looks of it, this warning was issued not because this particular crew member was utterly and completely against illegal substances, but because sniffer dogs and police officers were rumored to be waiting for the passengers in Sydney.

“We have been told there are sniffer dogs and quarantine officers waiting in the domestic terminal. If you need to dispose of anything you shouldn’t have, we suggest you flush it now,” the flight attendant reportedly told passengers aboard this flight.

Word has it that, shortly after the crew member made this rather bizarre suggestion, quite a lot of people got up and paid a visit to the loo, ABC News informs. It is still unclear whether or not this sudden increase in the number of visits to the toilet was in any way connected to the warning.

For the time being, the name of the flight attendant who warned passengers about the fact that sniffer dogs and police officers were waiting to shake hands with them in Sydney has not been shared with the public, and chances are it will be a while until this happens.

According to The Rakya Post, Jetstar Airlines apologized to its customers shortly after this peculiar incident. “The crew member’s words were poorly chosen and are plainly at odds with the professional standards we’d expect from our team,” it said in a statement.

“Our cabin crew play a vital role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our customers. We apologize to customers offended by the comments. We’re addressing the matter with the cabin crew member involved,” the Australian low-cost airline reportedly added.

Funnily enough, the fact that dogs trained to find illegal substances and police officers were indeed waiting for folks aboard the Jetstar Airlines plane on Sunday, all eager to inspect their luggage and personal belongings, has not yet been confirmed. Thus, it is possible that the flight attendant was just looking to have some fun.
