Soon after posting the new iPhoto 8.0.1 update, Apple also rolled out a couple of updates for AirPort users. The two new releases are free to download right here on our web site. Alternately, users can fire up Software Update from the Apple menu, and have the updates applied automatically.

As usual, Apple's Support section is the place to get information on new software releases. Talking about AirPort Client Update 2009-001, Apple points out that the update is “recommended for all Intel-based Macintosh computers running Mac OS X 10.5.6.” The release “addresses issues with roaming and network selection in dual-band environments,” according to the Mac maker.

The size of the download is precisely 2MB and supports several languages, including Deutsch, English, Français, Español, Italiano, Nederlands, Dansk, Norsk Bokmål, Polski, Português, Pусский, Suomi, Svensk, Chinese, Simplified Chinese and more.

Those using AirPort Utility to setup and manage their AirPort Express Base Station, AirPort Extreme Base Station or Time Capsule also have an update to apply. “AirPort Utility 5.4.1 is the simple to use, setup and management utility for the AirPort Express Base Station, the AirPort Extreme Base Station and Time Capsule,” Apple says. “Use AirPort Utility to setup and manage the following products,” the company outlines, listing the above-mentioned devices (AirPort Express and AirPort Extreme Base Stations, and Time Machine's sidekick, Time Capsule). However, Apple doesn't make any mentioning of the changes included with the update, but merely encourages users to check Software Update in System Prefs. to get the latest information on AirPort software.

The update is 17.40MB in size and is to be applied on systems running Mac OS X 10.4 or later. Supported languages include Deutsch, English, Français, Chinese, Español, Italiano, Nederlands, Dansk, Norsk Bokmål, Polski, Português, Pусский, Suomi, Svensk, Simplified Chinese, etc.

after I upgrade to Airport Client Update 2009-001 I was not able to use 802.11g channel 13 anymore.

I purchased my computer in thailand, and before this update, channel 13 worked fine...
now I cant see my Access point anymore... it's gone.
only able to see it after changing the AP channel to 1-11.

dont use this update if you use channel 12,13,14

apple I hate you.
