One year after flesh-eating bacteria left her without limbs, Aimee fights on

A little over a year ago, Aimee Copeland cut her leg while ziplining and became infected with a flesh-eating bacteria that cost her her limbs. Today, she’s still smiling and, as the videos in this blog post can confirm, making the most of her bionic hands.

Aimee returned to Katie Couric’s show Katie for an update on her progress and, honestly, you wouldn’t believe how far she’s come.

In only one regard she hasn’t changed: she’s still upbeat and, as she puts it, making lemonade out of the big serving of lemons life handed to her.

“It's a difficult process when you wake up in the morning and you realize this is my life. I think I'm at the place now where I wake up and I'm like, ‘yeah I'm at the same place I was at yesterday’,” she says.

“Uou can curl and cry all day or you can smile over it or you can just scream real loud and just carry on doing what you're doing. So that's what I did,” Aimee adds.

Below is a preview of Aimee showing off her bionic hands.
