With Apple preparing to release new iPads next week, more evidence is starting to emerge that the event will also be filled with software announcements.

On Tuesday, October 22, Apple will hold a media event to unveil the next-generation iPad 5 and iPad mini 2. Set to be hosted at San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, the showcase is also likely to include some software unveilings, such as OS X Mavericks, and perhaps some updates to existing apps.

At least two iOS apps will probably be updated next week, according to a leak from 9to5mac. Those are iPhoto and GarageBand, both sporting all-new icons and perhaps new graphical interfaces as well.

The new icons are in line with the iOS 7 visual upgrade. Apple has been steadily unifying its software products to match the flat look and feel of its mobile software.
