Triumph Studios has revealed more information on another of the playable leaders in their upcoming strategy title Age of Wonders 3, this time the spotlight shining on the Warlord.

The reveal was made through a gameplay video that clocks in at 19 minutes, containing footage and commentary illustrating the perks of Warlords class.

Warlords rule the land by the Law of the Sword, establishing the command hierarchy based on glory and prowess on the battlefield. Their armies are largely comprised of specialized and highly mobile troops and powerful beasts.

Warlords are master tacticians and legendary warriors themselves, and, although favoring war-hardened veterans and powerful armies to display their strength, they are also cunning masters of the arcane, employing a wide array of abilities which strengthen their armies.

Killing Spree allows a friendly unit to gain additional movement and action points every time it kills an enemy in combat, Steadfast Ward prevents a unit's health from dropping below 1 hitpoint for a limited amount of time, Conqueror's Feast doubles the Enemy in Domain and Enemy at the Gates morale penalties for enemy units, and reduces friendly units' upkeep cost outside their Empire's domain.

Relentless Army bestows all friendly units with Tireless, an ability that causes them not to spend action points for attacks of opportunity or retaliation, and Global Assault makes all friendly units gain Charge, and First Strike, and advance in rank to the gold medal rank, while also making all units produced in your cities gain gold medals.

But a Warlord with no army to command has never been heard of, and, therefore, the fearless leaders have a host of specific units in their ranks, such as Mounted Archers, highly mobile marksmen that launch deadly volley at their foes while keeping out of range of pikes and swords, Monster Hunters, fearless warriors using their crossbows and great swords with lethal proficiency, Warbreeds, inhumanly strong lumbering ogres born to plant the seeds of destruction, and the gruesome Manticore Riders, great warriors flying on the backs of lions.

The Warlord class can, of course, be mixed with any of the six races available in-game, and can also be further augmented by using class-specific specializations, providing players with additional skills.

Age of Wonders 3 will be released worldwide as a digital download on March 31, as well as in retail throughout Europe, and pre-orders are already available on Steam and GoG.
