The development team working on the Age of Empires series at Microsoft is suggesting that the Extended Edition of Age of Mythology could be soon headed to the Steam digital distribution system from Valve.

The information comes from an official stream designed to offer more details on the Forgotten campaign and features a small teaser at the end, which shows the log of the game with the Steam name superimposed.

The developers have not shared any other details and Microsoft is not yet offering any sort of comment on the potential Steam launch of Age of Mythology: Extended Edition.

It's unclear whether more content for the fantasy-powered strategy experience will be added or if any changes are being made to the core game engine.

Age of Mythology was created by the now-defunct Ensemble Studios and was first launched in 2002, allowing gamers to control the Greeks, Egyptians, and Norse civilizations with a variety of Gods present to allow for faction customization.

The game uses classic real-time strategy mechanics and was considered by many fans of the series to be pretty unbalanced on launch.

The Titans expansion added a fourth playable race and more units for gamers to use in their battles.
