Age of Conan did pretty well when it was launched, even with Mythic Entertainment's Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning launched in the same year. The new things the game tried to bring were some very neat-looking graphics as far as MMOs went, as well as some single-player – story elements to propel character progression. The single-player night missions were actually a very refreshing experience, and took you away from the mindless grind and the presence of other human players, giving you a sense of individuality and uniqueness in a world where a few thousand people looked exactly like you did.

But, as time passed, the gameplay proved to be flawed someway, and the massively multiplayer online role-playing game failed to generate that state of “must play,” and, gradually, its hype died down. Just recently, the title's developer, Funcom, felt the dwindling number of players as well, and tried to sweeten the Age of Conan deal by adding some special perks for lengthier subscriptions, including a slot for the closed beta of its upcoming MMO, The Secret World. The game also has an expansion pack set to be launched next year, and it's now in a stage where it can showcase a proper gameplay demo.

So that's exactly what it'll do. The Rise of the Godslayer expansion of Age of Conan will get a special display this Monday, December 7. It will feature a new, playable race, alternate advancements and several new items and additional content. The demo will be aired via Xfire.com and hosted by the Game Director and Executive Producer, Craig Morrison, and by Joel Bylos, the lead designer. “We have been working on the expansion for 'Age of Conan' for quite some time now, and everyone on the team is eager to lift the veil and include the public in what we are trying to bring to life,” Morrison said.

He further added that, “Development is coming together nicely, and we are really excited to see the empire of Khitai coming to life! Doing a live demo on Xfire is a brilliant way for us to reach out to a broad audience and show just what they can expect from ‘Rise of the Godslayer' as we continue to move closer and closer to launch.” The demo will go live at 12PM Pacific time, but that shouldn't be a problem for a true MMORPG fan.
