The much delayed barbarian-themed MMO is finally entering the home stretch. Funcom has recently released the pricing details regarding the game, a fact that is a pretty good indicator the release date is not too far down the pike.

Age of Conan is going to feature a straight subscription business model, with no micro-transactions or other in-game currency exchange. The game is priced at 12.99 Euro monthly base rate which becomes a monthly payout of 14.94 after tax. As always, longer subscriptions costs significantly less, and Age of Conan comes with the three month package costing 41.37 Euro and the six months subscription going for 75.83 Euro.

Thanks to the ever-weakening dollar, people in the United States will pay significantly less. 14.99 dollars are required for the one month subscription, while for 41.97 you get a three month subscription, and for 77.94 dollars you get to play for six whole months. Which is a great deal, as far as a barbarian-themed MMO goes, if you ask me.

If you're not a big fan of the subscription concept you can get around it by getting pre-paid cards which let you play for 60 days. A full list of retailers has not been announced, but major game retailers are expected to carry them. The price that Funcom is recommending is 29.99, both in dollars and in Euro.

As the open beta for the game has begun, it seems that those wanting to play will have to get their systems ready soon. It's mainly an issue of clearing some 32 GB of hard drive, as this is the total install space that Age of Conan will take up.

The MMO will launch on May 20 on the North American market and on May 23 in Europe, so be sure to get your system ready by then for the barbarian onslaught.
