Age of Conan Continues to Dominate the Charts

The MMO becomes the second best subscription game in the western world

The success recorded by the most recent MMORPG released by Funcom and Eidos, Age

of Conan: Hyborian Adventures might not be exactly what was expected from the game, but still both the developers and publishers are quite satisfied: more than 700.000 gamers have signed up for an account by now and numbers keep growing, since the MMO still dominates the PC sales charts.

According to the developers, Age of Conan remained the number one PC game on most European markets. The US data is not available yet, but we do know that the first two weeks tracked by the NPD also placed crowned the game as the best selling title. So, following the available official figures (and Funcom keeps saying that they are already outdated) we can all realize that AoC has taken the position as the undisputed #2 subscription MMO in the western world. And although it sounds impressive, we should not forget that the number one (the undying World of Warcraft) is over 9 million users bigger!

"That Age of Conan remains #1 in retail stores several weeks after release is of incredible importance to us, and proves that the game has a large potential beyond the early adopters," said Morten Larssen, VP of Sales & Marketing in Funcom. "With more than 700.000 accounts created so far we have a fantastic platform to build from, and we will continue our marketing spend to further drive numbers in the months to come. It also means that Funcom can dedicate significant development resources on evolving the game even further, naturally giving us a great hope for the future of Age of Conan."

What matters most for Age of Conan's future now is the continuous improvement of the game, the addition of new things and a bit of luck. It's never easy to defeat the final boss - called WoW here - but it's not impossible either. And, to be honest, we don't really care if they defeat it or not as long as they give us a flawless gaming experience!
