After Facebook, Google+ Adds a Photo Filter to Search, Long Time Overdue

Google+ is constantly getting small improvements and fixes. It’d better too, considering how many products Google has destroyed to prop up Google+. The latest is a filter for photos, not the Instagram kind, a search filter enabling you to search only for photos in your feed or on the site.

The timing is not coincidental, Facebook recently introduced a new news feed, which is still to roll out to most people, which adds a photos-only section.

"You can now filter your Google+ search results to only show photo posts. Just type in what you’re looking for, and select 'photos' from the filter dropdown," Google's Dave Cohen explained.

"You can find any photo post that’s shared with you -- from items shared only with you, to public photos shared by some of the great photographers on Google+," he added.

It is a bit surprising perhaps, since photos have been very important to Google+ since the get-go and are arguably some of the things it gets right.

Plenty of photographers have chosen Google+ to showcase their works. The photo viewer is quite good, the management tools are adequate, you can store an infinite amount of photos and the size limit is quite generous.
